We are developing an adventure video game set in the Early Modern Era, designed to combine entertainment with deep learning. Players will explore 16th-century port cities, make political decisions, join expeditions and navigate the challenges of transoceanic trade.

Based on rigorous historical research, the game offers a new way to engage with history — through immersion, empathy, and active participation.

Its release is planned for the end of the year, and it will be available to both individuals and educational institutions.

At Carrera de India S.L., we believe that learning about history should go far beyond textbooks. That’s why we are developing a narrative adventure video game set in the Early Modern period, designed to let players dive into the major events of the 16th century like never before.

This project is born from the fusion of rigorous historical research, game design, and a strong educational mission. Our aim is to offer an immersive experience where players don’t just learn about history — they live it.

The game environments faithfully recreate Golden Age port cities such as Seville, Lisbon, and Veracruz, complete with bustling markets, shipyards, and lively squares. Every detail has been built using real historical sources and expert consultation.

Players will take on various roles — from merchants and navigators to diplomats and craftsmen — making decisions that shape the course of their journey. Will you join an expedition to the Indies? Align with a European crown? Dare to challenge the monopoly trade routes?

Beyond entertainment, the video game offers a powerful tool for developing critical thinking and historical empathy. It invites users to understand the moral, economic, and social dilemmas of the era, from the perspective of those who lived them.

Special emphasis is placed on the role of women in Early Modern history — often overlooked by traditional narratives. The game includes female protagonists inspired by real historical figures involved in colonial, scientific or commercial ventures.

Technically, the game combines a 3D graphic engine, non-linear storytelling, exploration mechanics, decision-making and conflict resolution. It also includes an educational mode with historical fact sheets, documentation resources and downloadable materials for classroom use.

It is aimed at both private users and educational institutions. Schools, colleges, museums and universities will be able to incorporate it into their teaching programmes as an engaging learning resource.

Our video game will be available for PC and educational platforms by the end of the year. A closed beta will be announced soon, offering early access to collaborating educational centres.

And this is just the beginning. At Carrera de India S.L., we are committed to a new way of teaching the past: alive, digital, and profoundly human.
